The project’s managers, MFD, enlisted Townscape to add to an inventive perimeter defence solution for the quayside at Gunwharf. The project requirement was to shield the complex from any threatening vehicle assaults, whilst upgrading the outer landscaping of the area.
Another essential prerequisite was the overhauling of the current cast-iron bollard framework, guaranteeing their heritage marine design remained.
Townscape introduced five PAS 68 CT Blocks and added a bespoke hardwood sapele timber to encase the CT Blocks so they could be utilized as attractive planters.
To save the current legacy bollard design, Townscape made 35 Performa-Cast™ polymer sleeves, in three designs, to be fitted onto the PAS 68 bollards.
The bespoke CT Block timber planters tie into the surrounding beachfront environment along the quayside and the Performa-Cast™ bollard sleeves were set in moulds that fit the current heritage design, making a careful match to the past cast iron bollards.
The bespoke outlines of both of the hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) solutions have totally co-ordinated with the current furniture theme along the quayside, whilst expanding the security around the popular location.
